Out and About…Austin, TX
Austin is packed with food trucks selling everything from Korean tacos to two-dollar cupcakes. It also has a really high number of tattoo artists per capita.

I got to go to South by Southwest Interactive this year, an annual gathering of hipster geeks from London to San Francisco. This attendee was probably live-tweeting the session, but I’m not sure because she skipped out before we could exchange cards.
Out and About… Canandaigua Lake, NY

Memorial Day weekend always kicks off the summer season here on Canandaigua Lake. I spotted this tattoo amongst a flotilla of boats tied together for the sole purpose of communal partying. If you look closely, you can see a hand print. I used my fisheye lens for this shot, which means that objects are much much closer than they appear.

This diving board protrudes from the roof of a boathouse and is just high enough to cause one to question why they ever decided to climb a ladder, walk across a pitched roof covered in hot shingles, and step out into space. The first-time jumper typically assumes the position depicted above… about a foot from the edge, hands on hips, looking down and saying “Hmmm, this is higher than I thought”.
