I have to make this 100 percent clear — no one inked up a 3-year-old. And if someone had, I’d be too horrified to take pictures. These tattoos pressed on with water and washed off with soap. While they lasted, she was extremely happy to pose for pictures.

My friend Jess is just full of surprises, such as the musical score on her shoulder and the dead flower on her back. When we first met, which was at a local bar, I wanted to say… “your hair looks really good messy”. I really would have meant it in the best way possible, as I was immediately drawn to her carefully disheveled locks. However, I’ve learned that such things do not make good introductions and are best kept to yourself until you’ve become friends with someone. For instance, a girl once mentioned to me that she liked Monty Python, so I said… “your mother was a hamster and your father smelt of elderberries”. She wasn’t amused, so apparently she didn’t like Monty Python as much as she thought she did.
